Nicole Patrick, percussionist, was born and raised in Miami, FL.  She was inspired by her family to explore a limitless life in the arts, taking her first drum lessons from her father at nine years old.

Nicole is an alumna of Interlochen Arts Academy and graduated from the University of Michigan in 2016 with degrees in both Percussion Performance (BM) and Jazz & Contemporary Improvisation (BFA).  During her studies, she was the recipient of the International Institute Individual Fellowship Grant, which allowed her to travel to Germany to study innovative pedagogical techniques with composer/

percussionist Julie Spencer and

Tangente Company, a Berlin based dance group.  She also received funding to perform in South Africa as a guest artist with the Michigan Percussion Quartet for the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival.  The quartet also teamed up with multiple drum companies to donate instruments and mallets to the host institution of SICMF, University of Stellenbosch.

In addition to her studies, Nicole worked for two years as the concert series curator at the Canterbury House in Ann Arbor.  It was this love of curation that sparked the conception of Threads All Arts Festival, a three-day event that celebrates artists of all disciplines from around Southeast Michigan.
